AI Result Debugger (Chrome extension) ยท Last updated 2026-09-29
AI Result Debugger helps you understand why an AI assistant gave you a bad answer. This page explains exactly what data the extension uses, where it goes and what we keep. Short version: we don't store your prompts or AI answers, and we don't sell or share your data.
What you send us
When you click Diagnose, the extension sends the text you pasted into its fields: your prompt, the AI's answer and, if you filled them in, what went wrong and what you expected. Nothing is sent before you click the button. The extension never reads web pages, your chats, other tabs, your browsing history or cookies.
Our server passes this text to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate the diagnosis and sends the result back to you. We don't save the text on our server and don't write it to logs.
Our AI provider
Diagnoses are generated with the OpenAI API. We ask OpenAI not to store the request (store: false). Under OpenAI's API data policy, API data is not used to train their models, but OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse. See OpenAI's API data usage policy.
What we keep
- An anonymous install ID. A random ID created when you first use the extension and stored in your browser. It is not linked to your name, email or Google account. We use it for the daily limit of free diagnoses.
- Usage counts. For each install ID: the first and last day it was used, how many days and how many diagnoses, the interface language and the browser language (for example "en-US"). This shows us whether the tool is useful enough for people to come back.
- Ratings. If you answer "Was this helpful?", we store your rating and the type of diagnosis (for example "missing context", "follow-up message"), never your text.
- Daily limit counters. To stop abuse we count diagnoses per install ID and per IP address. The IP address is never stored as is: we keep only a keyed one-way hash (with a secret key and the date) that can't be turned back into the address, and these counters are deleted after the day ends.
We keep usage counts and ratings while the product is in testing and for up to 12 months after, then delete or fully aggregate them.
What stays in your browser
Your last 20 diagnoses (with the prompt and answer you pasted), your language choice and whether you accepted the privacy notice are stored only in your browser (chrome.storage.local). You can delete the history at any time with Clear history, or remove everything by uninstalling the extension.
Permissions
- sidePanel: to show the extension in Chrome's side panel.
- storage: to keep your history, settings and install ID in your browser.
The extension has no access to the websites you visit.
What we never do
We don't sell your data, don't use it for advertising or profiling and don't use your prompts or answers to train our own models. We don't use cookies or third-party analytics.
Please don't paste sensitive data
Don't paste passwords, payment details, health records or other confidential information into the extension.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and show the new privacy notice in the extension. Questions, or want your usage data deleted? Write to ai.result.debugger@gmail.com. Since we don't know who you are, we'll help you find your anonymous install ID so we can delete the right records.
